PROGRAM INFORMATION Treatment provided in the Peninsula Day Treatment Center is based on an outpatient model of treatment and support for adults who are in need of daily structured services. The program runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. |
PROGRAM GOALS
To avert inpatient admission or shorten the length of inpatient stay by assisting an individual to achieve:
WHO NEEDS TREATMENT?
The flexibility of the PDTC is ideal in meeting the needs of individuals experiencing a variety of illnesses including Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Dissociative Disorders, co-occuring disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and, Personality Disorders.
ADMISSION
Individuals that would require inpatient psychiatric care now or in the near future if they were not admitted to a day treatment program, or individuals coming from an inpatient setting that are experiencing severe psychiatric symptoms that impair their ability to function adequately on a day-to-day basis without intervention are candidates for admission. Patients must be able to participate in all aspects of the program included in the treatment plan.
TREATMENT PLAN
The treatment team will develop a treatment plan after meeting with each participant to evaluate needs and set goals. Treatment is designed through a variety of intensive therapeutic activities, to address the individual's specific needs, and to help the person to function in the community by developing and maintaining skills directed at:
ACTIVITIES
Experimental Activities - expressive, project sessions focus on self-esteem, stress management, problem solving, life skills, communication, anger management, identifying feelings, and assertiveness.
Cognitive Behavior Therapy - helps patients to recognize the mental processes that cause behavioral and emotional problems and learn ways to manage their feelings and expectations in more positive and helpful ways.
Psycho-educational Therapy - focus on education about diagnoses, treatments, and aspects of dealing with mental illness. Patients learn symptom management and coping strategies through experiential group exercises utilizing a behavioral health perspective.
Aftercare/ Discharge Planning - linkage to community services is essential to continuity of care. Patients are aided by therapists to understand their diagnoses, learn goal-setting, and find out about community resources. The discharge plan will include follow-up appointments and connection to community resources.

Prospective patients, physicians, other treatment programs and professionals may make referrals. Please have the following information ready for admission:
FINANCIAL INFORMATION
Peninsula Day Treatment Center is part of Peninsula Mental Health Services, which contracts with most of the major managed care companies and insurance companies and is able to bill for services covered.
Insurance deductibles, co-payments and non-covered charges are reviewed at the time of admission. Financial arrangements must be made prior to starting treatment.
Treatment costs vary depending upon the length and intensity of treatment.
